The impression taking sessions

Find out about the COTRAL impression taking process

During your impression taking session, the prevention technician will take the impressions of your employees' ears, but also heighten their awareness and inform them about the risks associated with noise and about wearing the hearing protections.

The impression taking procedure follows a very precise protocol

Impression takingThe prevention technician follows a very precise impression taking protocol:

  1. During an initial stage, the COTRAL technician will select the acoustic filter using the ATAG+ method. Developed by COTRAL Laboratory, this method will allow him/her to select the filter-hearing protection combination best suited to each employee.
  2. During a second stage, the prevention technician performs a study of the otological history. This study, combined with an otoscopy, will allow him/her to detect any contraindications to the impression taking procedure.
  3. Finally, the COTRAL technician will take the impressions starting by protecting the eardrum by inserting foam into the auditory canal. S/he subsequently injects the impression paste using an electric or a manual gun.

Informing and arousing awareness among your employees is essential

Awareness-raising during impression takingDuring impression taking, the prevention technician informs and creates awareness among your employees about the dangers associated with noise and about the need to wear their hearing protections 100% of the time spent exposed to noise. he will therefore explain to each employee:

  • the functioning of the COTRAL hearing protections, their insertion in the ear and why and how they are to be looked after.
  • the consequences of unprotected exposure to excessive noise levels.
