You wish to reduce the risk of noise in your company. What however is the approach to adopt? What is the right choice of protections? How can you involve your employees? How can you facilitate implementation of the personalised hearing protections?
Assessment of the noise level of each post
Upstream from equipment, your prevention technician's first assignment is to assess the noise level. You identify in conjunction with him/her the posts that require use of hearing protections. This study is performed based on an existing noise chart or on sonometric records that your COTRAL technician will be able to perform on site.
Noise diagnosis
During a second stage, your technician will draft in conjunction with you your company's noise diagnosis (only available in french). Making a diagnosis is a crucial step in embarking on a policy of prevention of the risks of noise. It initially involves determining the origin of the noises in your company, classifying them by order of importance, presenting the various measures already adopted and during a second stage, in suggesting improvements.
Depending on the results, it will perhaps be necessary to:
- reduce your employees' exposure to noise. Several solutions may be considered, such as reduction of noise at its source, fitting of casings, incorporation of acoustic screens or furthermore implementation of hearing protections.
- propose solutions of an "organisational" nature. Intervention concerning management of working hours or directly on the modi operandi may allow a reduction in the time of exposure to noise.
- encourage your employees to participate in your company's safety culture. This entails motivating staff to protect themselves and to observe the procedures implemented in order to offer them optimum risk-free working conditions.
